About Us

Class in Progress We have been running classes at PLAY ‘N’ LEARN for over ten years, and have trained over 1,000 dogs of all shapes and sizes.

Our classes are fun and informal, and our reward-based training methods are kind, fair, and effective.

Janetnew Janet runs our training classes. She has been working and training dogs for over 20 years. She previously owned Springer Spaniels and competed at obedience with them. She went on to instruct at an obedience club for 12 years and has more recently been a volunteer at Hearing Dogs for the Deaf for 6 years in the training department.

Janet currently owns two Australian Sheep dogs,Buster who is under a year old has qualified for Crufts in breed, and Tinkerbell who is five years old competes in obediance and has twice qualified for breed at Crufts.

Julia completed the two-year course on Animal Psychology with the Centre of Applied Pet Ethology in 2001.

Having been involved with dogs all her life, Julia now enjoys the company of her two dogs, Border Collie Jemma with whom she competes in Agility and Flyball competitions and a rescue Collie-cross, Sally, who is work in progress!

Julia founded Play ’n’ Learn in October 2001 and has now retired from taking the classes having confidently passed on the business to Janet. She continues to see clients for 1-2-1 puppy and beginner training advice which can get them on the right road, and ready to join the class when they have completed any vaccination program.
